“Hi Sir, Hello Precious”

A few years back, my husband, Jack and I visited a Memory Care center where Jack’s mom, Margi, would soon be moving into. When we entered the front door for the first time, we were greeted by an older man, who with a warm smile exclaimed, “Hi Sir, Hello Precious!”

Just that one simple phrase immediately quelled my anxiety concerning this unfamiliar place. I could sense LIFE coming from this man’s words, and they released a ray of hope around Jack and myself.

This facility had only 25 residents, and on each door there was a picture box full of pictures and a bio of all the things each person had been known for in their life. I quickly learned that the kind man who welcomed us at the front door was a retired pastor named Ralph.

Here was a man, whose natural mind was struggling…fading away, but the love of Jesus was having no trouble flowing out of his spirit! This encounter opened my eyes to the fact that it doesn’t require eloquent spiritual words to leave an impact on a person’s heart. A living, intimate relationship with Jesus can flow out effortlessly and speak volumes to the people we come in contact with.

Throughout the couple hours we were there I could hear the nurses getting on to Ralph for trying to open the front door to look for his wife. He would always respond with a gentle, quiet voice telling them thank you.

At supper, Ralph prayed the most beautiful prayer before the residents ate, and later when Jack and I were exiting the front door to leave, he wished us well, saying “Praise God from whom all blessings flow!”

I think fondly of Ralph even to this day. His witness continues to bring special meaning to Bible verses such as these:

John 7:38 – “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”

Isaiah 58:11 – The LORD will always guide you; He will satisfy you in a sun-scorched land and strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”

Proverbs 25:11 – “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”

Matthew 12:35 – “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things…”

You will enjoy this worship song talking about the transformation we can all experience as we fill our hearts with God’s Word~

This devotional about Ralph is endearing, but the Alzheimer’s memory disease he is facing is not. Below is a meditation we can read aloud regularly to remind ourselves and declare that we have been given the mind of Christ! I Have the Mind of Christ!

📖 1. 2 Timothy 1:7 (New King James Version)
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

I reject every trace of fear because I walk in God’s divine authority. His power fills my being, His love anchors my heart, and His Spirit secures my mind in perfect soundness.

📖 2. Isaiah 26:3 (New International Version)
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

My trust in the Lord is my unbreakable shield. My mind is not tossed by doubt or overwhelmed by life’s pressures. I live in perfect peace—not a fleeting calm, but a God-given stillness of my soul.

📖 3. Philippians 4:7 (English Standard Version)
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

There’s a supernatural guard over my mind—God’s own peace. It silences anxiety, confuses fear, and covers me with calm beyond human explanation. I live from a protected place, hidden in Christ, with a heart and mind that are whole.

📖 4. Romans 12:2 (New Living Translation)
Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

My mind is not trapped in old patterns—I am being transformed daily by the renewing power of God’s truth. I think with clarity, I see with purpose, and I live with a renewed identity. His Word rewires me for freedom and joy.

📖 5. 1 Corinthians 2:16 (Amplified Bible)
But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes].

The mind of Christ is not a theory—it’s alive in me. I think as He thinks, I feel as He leads, and I choose what aligns with His will. My mind is not scattered—it’s synchronized with heaven’s wisdom and guided by eternal perspective.

📖 6. John 14:26 (New King James Version)
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you.

The Holy Spirit is my divine Helper—He restores what I’ve forgotten, strengthens what I remember, and brings Jesus’ words to life in my heart. My memory is blessed, my understanding is sharp, and I recall truth when I need it most.

📖 7. Colossians 3:2 (New American Standard Bible)
Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth.

My mind is fixed—not drifting or double-minded. I look above the chaos. I see truth, beauty, and divine order. I am not consumed by the temporary—I dwell on what is eternal, giving me heavenly strength!

📖 8. Proverbs 3:5–6 (The Passion Translation)
Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with Him in whatever you do, and He will lead you wherever you go.

I trust God completely, not half-heartedly. As I walk close with Him, He untangles confusion and directs my mind with clarity. I hear correctly.  I think clearly.  I remember quickly and accurately. I will never lose my mind!

🔥 CLOSING PRAYER:

Father, I thank You that my mind is not a battlefield for disease—it is a sanctuary of peace, renewed and ruled by Your Spirit. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is alive in me now, quickening my thoughts, emotions, and mental strength.

I declare by faith that I will never lose my mind! My mind is not fragile—it is fortified by Your truth. It is not scattered—it is centered on Your promises. I am not confused—I am led by the Holy Spirit. I walk in power, I speak with boldness, and I think with clarity that cannot be stolen by anxiety, trauma, or fear.

I reject every lie of the enemy that whispers breakdown, burnout, or instability. Those voices are silenced. I have the mind of Christ, and I hold fast to peace, wisdom, and divine focus. I will not decline—I will rise. I will not be disoriented—I will overflow with insight.

In Jesus’ Name, I decree that my mental health is blessed, my emotions are whole, and my thoughts are redeemed. I walk in unshakable joy and Spirit-born peace every single day of my life. I shout it by faith: I WILL NEVER LOSE MY MIND!

In the victorious name of Jesus—AMEN!
