In this world of uncertainty, we can be thankful that Jesus promised in John 16:33 that He has given us His peace. The peace of this world comes and goes with circumstances, but the peace of God is unchanging and available for us to receive at any time.
Below is an eight-verse meditation on the subject of God’s peace. Set aside a quiet moment to reflect as you slowly read these verses and affirmations out loud. Click on the instrumental below if you would like music with the meditation.
1. Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
God may Your peace flow through me now, calming every storm in my heart. I rest far above every care of this world knowing You care for me.
2. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 – “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.”
Peace of God, rule in my heart. I cast all my cares onto You, Jesus. Your Word is my anchor, keeping me steady in every situation.
3. John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not allow your hearts to be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
I refuse anxiety. Fill me now with Your peace, wisdom, and clarity. I refuse fear. Your rest is my portion. I am never alone.
4. Isaiah 26:3 – “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is fixed on you, because he trusts in you.”
Jesus, dominate my heart and emotions. Your presence is my constant companion. I live in the reality of God‘s perfect peace. I function from divine rest as Your presence fills me with deep and abiding peace.
5. Psalm 62:1-2 – “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress. I will never be shaken.”
No matter what happens around me, I command my soul to remain at peace. I rest because I trust You are working on my behalf, even in the chaos of this world.
6. John 16:33 – “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. but take heart; I have overcome the world.”
The storms of life cannot shake me because I am founded on the Rock. God’s rest is mine.
7. Daniel 10:19 – “‘Don’t be afraid,’ he said, ‘for you are very precious to God. Peace! Be encouraged! Be strong!’ As he spoke these words to me, I suddenly felt stronger and said to him, ‘Please speak to me, my lord, for you have strengthened me.’”
I refuse to be restless. My confidence is in Your faithfulness. Free me from the torment of anxious thoughts. May your peace silence every voice of fear and doubt.
8. Isaiah 54:10– “Though the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”
My life is in God’s hands. I am not shaken by the world. I am held in Your firm embrace. Your peace is mine now and forever.
